Social Functions

As only a limited number of members can attend each club trip, regular social functions offer members greater opportunities to meet and socialize with other members.

The Social Coordinator’s role is to develop a calendar of reasonably-priced events suitable and varied enough for all members to attend regardless of age.  Generally there is no limit to numbers.  In particular, new members can find social events a good way to ‘break the ice’ in meeting members and to find out what they enjoy about the club.  By getting to know each other better, new friendships can encourage more members to take a bigger interest in other club events.

Several social events are organised during the year with the aim of getting as many members together as possible, two of our more long standing events are:-

X-Mas Party

This is an annual event and has been organised as a weekend (generally at a caravan park) or a day in a city park.

Both involve a barbecue lunch free for children and a small fee for adults. Afterwards a visit by Father Christmas to hand out club presents to all members children or Grandchildren (max 2) under the age of 13 years. Details of how it works will be supplied on request or on registration for the event. If it is a weekend event evening happy hours will be organised.

Polish Hill River

Over the years the club has sole use of this venue and has organised events from a weekend up to a stay of many days at the facility 12 kilometres from Clare with a large hall/community kitchen, showers and toilets with powered sites suitable for caravans, campers, tents, rooftop campers and swags and it is next door to Pikes Winery, Brewery and Restaurant. Day trips are organised to local tourist venues and 4WD areas.

Annual Wine Tasting

An annual wine tasting and purchase is organised to coincide with a social meeting, not only do you get good wine for a good price but the club receives a commission for organising the event that goes to fund social events.

Social events are thus a vital part of our club’s repertoire of activities.  Details of these events are advertised in the Club Magazine and website.  Take advantage of these organised functions and widen your experience of the Club.
Members are encouraged to contact the Social Coordinator social@mitsi4wdsa.org.au with ideas for social events.
