Presidents Report - March
15th March 2024
By Andrew Gay
Dear Members,
Caravan and Camping Show
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to John O’Daly and all the club members who dedicated their time representing us at the Caravan and Camping show. Your efforts are crucial in making these events successful, not only for our club but also in terms of member recruitment and positive exposure.
A warm welcome to our new members: Simone Berliat, Barry Bertossa, Gary Frith, and Brett Robinson who joined via the caravan and camping show. Incidentally, three of these new members attended the February social meeting, at which time we discovered that all three drive Mitsubishi Challengers. The fourth new member drives a Mitsubishi Delica. Your attendance at the February social meeting was appreciated, and we hope you feel at home in our community. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.
In the coming months, we plan to organise a new member meeting, tentatively scheduled for Sunday, May 19th. Details and invitations will be shared later this month. This is a fantastic opportunity for new members to get acquainted with the club, and we encourage your participation.
Social Meetings
Our social meetings continue to be a highlight, providing a platform for members to connect, share stories, and enjoy guest speakers. If you have any suggestions for speakers or topics, please let us know. Your input is valuable in making these gatherings engaging and informative. Sourcing guest speakers is a challenge and Jon Gilbert has done a great job over the past year finding suitable people. If you have any ideas or contacts for individuals you think are suitable, please let us know, so we can speak with them to arrange them to present.
One segment we had recently was a “Bring a gadget” night and I was blown away by the range of interesting gadgets members brought along to share why they found this item a must have in their car or caravan. No doubt a segment that may become a more regular feature.
MIG Meetings
I'd like to express gratitude to Lachlan Peters for his work on the Mechanical Interest Group meetings. As he navigates a busy work life, Derek Mikolaj has stepped in temporarily. Your suggestions for topics, venues, or any ideas to enhance these meetings are welcome. Cooper Tyres and GO 4X4 are already confirmed for March and May, and registration is open online.
Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, during the March Social meeting. Agendas and notices have been distributed, and all Committee positions are filled. Attend with confidence, knowing there won't be surprise nominations on the night.
Defibrillator
I'm pleased to announce the purchase of an additional defibrillator to ensure the safety of all club trips. Remember, the club provides various items for member use, including satellite phones, UHF radios, and more. For inquiries, please contact Stephen Pearson at Property@mitsi4wdsa.org.au.
Event attendance:
A friendly reminder to book all event and trip attendance via the website or mobile app. If you encounter any issues, feel free to email me, and I'll gladly assist you.
Best regards,
Andrew Gay
