TOPIC: 

Tonight’s meeting will feature the first half of a video of Keith Adam, his wife, sister, and Fox Terrier’s trip from home in Perth to the Gulf of Carpentaria in the early 1960’s in a 1948 Buick car with trailer and home-made tinny.

The route taken Perth, Kalgoorlie, Leonora, Laverton, Tjukaruru Road, renamed Great Central Hwy, (Anne Beadell Hwy not completed till Sept 1962), Warburton, Giles weather station, Docker River, Ayers Rock, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Threeways, Barkly Hwy, Tableland Hwy, Cape Crawford, Borroloola, Savanah Hwy, Snake Lagoon to their base camp (5 weeks) on the Robinson River, Gulf of Carpentaria.

They explore the Sir Edward Pellew Group of Islands in their home-made tinny meeting the local Aboriginal groups, joining them fishing.

Returning to their base camp on the Robinson River, they collect Crocodile skins, one a 5.5 metre monster for sale in Katherine (this is prior to the protection of Crocodiles) and prepare for their return home via Katherine and the West Australian coastline.
